Supporting Success: 15 Future Nurses and 100% Completion

Fifteen aspiring Licensed Practical Nurses reached a major milestone, successfully completing their training through Canton City Schools Adult Career and Technical Education Center. After months of challenging coursework, hands-on clinical experiences, and dedicated preparation, every participant crossed the graduation stage—achieving an impressive 100% completion rate.

Through funding provided by the Stark Tuscarawas Workforce Development Board and through Ohio’s Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), these students were able to pursue training for an in-demand healthcare career. Throughout the program, Canton City Schools provided more than classroom instruction. Students received career coaching, participated in weekly Essential and Professional Skills classes, and learned from community leaders and healthcare professionals who shared valuable insight into leadership, professionalism, and career success. Many students also completed one-on-one clinical preceptorships, gaining hands-on experience and confidence before entering the workforce.

The results speak for themselves. All 15 participants successfully completed the program, and ten graduates have already taken and passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam, allowing them to begin their careers as Licensed Practical Nurses. Additionally, three students earned their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, further expanding their skills and career opportunities within the healthcare field.

This accomplishment reflects not only the dedication of the graduates, but also the strength of a workforce system working together to help individuals achieve their career goals. As the Board’s designated services provider, Workforce Initiative Association (WIA) supports individuals along the path toward training, completion, and a good job. Working in tandem with education and training partners such as Canton City Schools Adult Career and Technical Education Center, this continuum of support helps individuals build skills, earn credentials, and move into in-demand careers while helping meet the workforce needs of employers across our region.
