The National Center for Urban Solutions Technical Education Center (NCUS TEC) is a nonprofit workforce development organization with extensive experience delivering career readiness, training, and employment placement services across multiple regions. NCUS TEC has a strong track record of serving individuals facing barriers to employment and connecting them to industry-aligned training and sustainable career pathways.
Our mission is to provide “cutting-edge” customized certification training to assist individuals in obtaining employment and achieving economic self-sufficiency.
NCUS TEC maintains experienced workforce professionals, established employer relationships, and robust data tracking systems to ensure accountability and performance. The organization has demonstrated capacity to manage grant funding, meet reporting requirements, and collaborate effectively with regional workforce partners. In the Stark County regional office NCUS TEC has successfully met and exceeded participation and placement goals for the Good Jobs Challenge. Since the inception of our program in February 2023, NCUS TEC has engaged 545 participants with a placement rate of approximately 60% for qualified participants who completed the program.
NCUS TEC has worked primarily with Stark County manufacturing employers through the Stark County Manufacturing Workforce Development Partnership. We also partner with many Stark County agencies such as ICAN, Stark Urban League, Strengthening Stark, Canton, Alliance and Massillon Chambers to name a few.
We service untapped communities and untapped talent assisting them to find livable wage employment. NCUS TEC also works with the re-entry population.
People may not know that the National Center for Urban Solutions TEC has multiple pillars to the organization. We have divisions dedicated to health and mental wellness in multiple cities across the US. We are also an accredited two-year university where you can attain an associate’s degree in several fields. Here in Stark County, we operate our charter school, Academy for Urban Scholars which is a credit recovery program which offers graduation with career paths and credentials earned while completing your diploma. We also offer a program for adults 22 and older that offers the opportunity to complete your high school diploma with a 73% graduation rate. Our oldest graduate to date was 74 years old.
Our new Career Tech Education program will offer career certification in construction, health care and cosmetology.
As the workforce development program manager, I am most proud of the many lives we have touched in the community by helping individuals gain sustainable employment. I love it when I run into people who have participated in our program and am greeted with a hug and updates on what they are doing now. I love it when we get referrals from previous participants with the promise that “NCUS will take good care of you”. I am proud that participants will stop by the office just to visit because the relationships we build are strong and genuine.
