Meet the Board: Rick Baxter

I am the president of both Alliance Area Development (AAD) and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce.

With AAD my priority is to positively impact businesses and manufacturing in the way of their retention, expansion, and by promoting of new growth. AAD’s aim is to assist the local economy through building successful and complementary relationships with area businesses, governments, and financial development organizations.

With the chamber, my role is to lead the organization in our community. The chamber is dedicated to promoting economic growth and development. We serve as a catalyst for local businesses to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

Our members represent a diverse range of industries, from small family-owned businesses to large corporations. We believe that by working together, we can create a strong and vibrant economy that benefits everyone in our community.

I was inspired to get involved with the Board to attract and retain businesses in our community, we really need to focus on growing our workforce within our communities. I love the mission of the Workforce Development Board and know how important the work they do is to all of the communities they serve.

The workforce challenge I feel most passionate about address is the continued growth of developing our future manufacturing workforce. Getting kids interested at an early age in manufacturing careers is very important. Getting them to see the high technology in the industry today, the wages that can be earned, and the future career paths that can lead them to a great career.

I also enjoy spending time with my family. My wife Chrissy is a 6th grade Special Education teacher with Ohio Connections Academy. We have been married for 32 years. My son Mitchell works at Strengthening Stark as a Grant Coordinator and his wife Taylor is my Administrative Assistant/Membership Coordinator at the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce. They have a 1-year-old son Bellamy. My daughter Madison is a stay-at-home mom, and her husband Adam works in HR for Sheetz. They have two sons Zuko 4 and Zed 2. I enjoy early morning workouts, playing guitar and piano and being a worship leader at Alliance Friends Church. I enjoy writing worship songs and have a YouTube channel called Carnation City Worship.
