I am the Executive Director of Manufacturing at The M.K. Morse Company, where I am responsible for leading the company’s manufacturing and operations strategy, including production, maintenance, development, and shipping. I have worked at Morse for more than 22 years, progressing through a variety of technical, engineering, and leadership roles after starting as a Technology Center Test Technician in 2004. I am passionate about developing people, strengthening Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing workforce, and creating opportunities for employees to grow their skills and careers in manufacturing. I earned an Associate of Applied Science from Stark State, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron, and an MBA from Malone University.
I got involved with the Workforce Development Board because I believe the future of manufacturing in Northeast Ohio depends on our ability to develop a strong, skilled workforce. After spending more than 20 years working my way through different roles in manufacturing, I have seen firsthand both the opportunities that manufacturing can provide and the challenges companies face in finding and developing talented people. I wanted to use my experience to help create stronger connections between manufacturers, educators, and the workforce so that people have a better understanding of the careers and opportunities available to them. I also see workforce development as an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported my career and to help make sure Northeast Ohio remains a great place to build a career and a successful manufacturing business.
The workforce challenge I feel most passionate about is making sure the next generation is educated about and interested in manufacturing careers. There is still a stigma that manufacturing is dirty, dangerous, and limited in opportunity, when today’s manufacturing environment is very different. Modern manufacturing offers careers in advanced technology, engineering, automation, maintenance, quality, leadership, and many other areas, with opportunities to learn and grow. I want to help change the perception of manufacturing and show students and young people that it can provide a rewarding, stable, and fulfilling career. If we can get the next generation interested in manufacturing and give them the education and skills they need to be successful, we can strengthen both our workforce and the future of manufacturing in Northeast Ohio.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and making the most of the time we have together. Whether it’s camping, playing sports together, or simply spending time together, family is a big part of what I enjoy. I also enjoy riding motorcycles, which gives me a chance to get outside, clear my head. Staying active and exercising is another important part of my life. I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself physically, setting goals, and continuing to improve. For me, having a good balance of family, time outdoors, and staying active is what makes life outside of work fun and rewarding.
