Meet the Board: Marc Manheim

In my role, I serve as a Board Member of the Workforce Development Board (Area 6). In addition. I am on the Executive Committee of the Board. I’m employed as an Area Manager for Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). OOD is the state’s vocational rehabilitation agency that serves persons with disabilities, age 14 and up who are in need of support in getting a job or keeping a job. OOD is a mandatory partner of the of Ohio’s Workforce Delivery System, and as such OOD employees work in partnership with all Workforce Development Board’s across the state. I manage the East-Central Ohio Area for OOD, which includes 21 counties with offices in Canton, Wooster, Mansfield, Newark, Zanesville, and Youngtown. OOD works closely with the local OMJ Job Centers, with many OOD Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors headquartered at these locations.

My motivation has always been assisting others in their career development. Helping individuals with disabilities find meaning and purpose in employment is extremely exciting to me. Assisting individuals with barriers to employment and maximizing their independence truly motivates me with the work I do in my career, as well as my role with the Workforce Development Board.

I think the one challenge we must keep up with as advocates for workforce development is to make sure we are reaching individuals who may not know where to turn for help. I have a true passion for reaching out in the community and making sure individuals with barriers to employment understand that there is support available through the OMJ Job Centers and the many partners affiliated with the Job Centers, like Opportunities of Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD).

I love to travel, plus spending time with my family and friends. The people who know me know I like try out the many restaurants in our local community. As most of know, Stark, Tuscarawas, and surrounding counties have some amazing restaurants! You do not have to go too far to enjoy some great food, and we are very fortunate in our area to have some exceptional eateries.
